Second language

Languages 2.jpg

Before the start of your first year, you will choose a second language that you will study during the first two years of your programme. You can choose one of the following languages: Spanish, German, French, Dutch or Mandarin Chinese (depending on the number of applications). Learning a second language will give you a head start when it comes to applying communication skills within your future career.

All language classes start at level zero. At the end of the first year, you will have reached level A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference and halfway the second year your skills will be at a B1.1 level (A2.2 for Chinese).

  • Every other week you will have 2 or 4 hours of language classes and you will earn five European Credits per language module (15 in total for years 1 and 2).
  • At the end of each module, your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills will be assessed.
  • In the final semester of year 2, there will be an integrated assignment with the course Intercultural and Professional Skills in Business.

For more information and to find out what exactly you will learn in each of the languages, please check the IBS language guide.
